Remember when that baked feta pasta was all over TikTok last year? I remember watching those videos and thinking…yeah, I can definitely make that so much better. Well, with a little experimenting and a lot of pasta taste testing (which was great), I’m ready to present what I’ve officially deemed as the better-than-TikTok-pasta!

Otherwise known as Boursin cheese pasta, this easy baked sauce recipe is seriously going to make you reconsider ever buying a jar of pasta sauce again. It’s creamy and cheesy from the Boursin cheese (I swear Boursin is so underrated and not used enough) and loaded with robust flavors from the tomatoes, olives, and red onions.

And, yes, Boursin is so much better than feta in this baked TikTok pasta recipe. Boursin is creamier, less tangy, and way less salty. With the feta, I felt all I could taste was that tangy bite and how salty it was. With my version, I noticed that when it’s stirred with the other ingredients at the end of the bake time, Boursin is so much smoother and creamier than the feta was!

Who knew we’d all be saying, “I saw this on TikTok” and actually making them in our kitchens?!

What You’ll Need:

  • Olive Oil – The darker green the olive oil is, the more prominent (and tasty) the flavor will be.
  • Tomatoes – You can use either cherry or grape tomatoes.
  • Red Onion – Red onions have the most potent flavor that makes them perfect for this bold recipe.
  • Kalamata Olives – Make sure they’re pitted! You can swap these for castelvetrano olives if you wish.
  • Italian Seasoning – No pasta dish is ever really complete without it, right?
  • Salt – Just a sprinkle.
  • Black Pepper – Freshly grind the black pepper for the best flavor.
  • Boursin Cheese – Two packs of the garlic and herb Boursin will do the trick.
  • Pasta – I like to use mezze rotini or fusilli pasta.
  • Chicken – Make life easy by using some pre-cooked chicken strips!
  • Spinach – Baby spinach adds a delightful touch of greens to the dish.
  • Basil Leaves – They need to be fresh, not dried.

How to Make Boursin Cheese Pasta

For more detailed instructions, scroll to the bottom of this post.

Fill the casserole dish. Place the tomatoes, onions, olives, seasonings, and olive oil in a casserole dish. Toss to coat with the oil, then add the Boursin cheese.

Bake. Bake the dish for 30 minutes at 350°F.

Boil the pasta. While the sauce ingredients cook, boil and drain the pasta according to package instructions.

Stir the sauce. Remove the dish from the oven and carefully pop each tomato with a fork. Stir everything together.

Add the final touches. Add the chicken, spinach, and pasta to the tomato mixture. Stir it all together to fully incorporate the ingredients.

Enjoy! Garnish your pasta with chopped basil and whatever seasonings you’d like.

Common Questions:

Can I make Boursin Cheese Pasta spicy? While I like this dish just the way it is, you can add some heat by sprinkling in some crushed red pepper flakes at any point.

Can I make Boursin Cheese Pasta vegetarian? Yes! You can either remove the chicken entirely or replace it with a plant based alternative. They also make dairy-free Boursin now!

Can I use a different flavor of Boursin cheese? Yes, I have tried it with half garlic and fine herb and half shallot and chive and it’s just as delicious!

The cheese makes my sauce chunky. It honestly really shouldn’t be because you melted/cooked the Boursin cheese for 30 minutes. If you didn’t use Boursin cheese and did your own substitution for another type of cheese, then this is likely why. I haven’t tested with any other varieties.

  • Bake for 30 minutes.

  • In the meantime, bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the pasta until desired doneness. Drain and set aside.

  • Once the tomato mixture is done, remove from oven and carefully burst the tomatoes with the back of a fork. Stir the mixture all together, mixing the cheese throughout.

  • Add the chicken and spinach on top and stir until the spinach is cooked through (the residual heat from the tomato mixture will cook it and warm through the chicken).

  • Add the pasta then stir again to incorporate well.

  • Garnish with fresh chopped basil and season with additional salt and pepper, to taste.
