Burger with Mushrooms

When grilling season rolls around, I get so excited to make this grilled burger! Grilled burgers have so much flavor and a sear unlike any other. They’re perfect for backyard BBQ dinners and making everyone in the neighborhood jealous! 😉

This mushroom burger recipe is the best of the best. Not only will everyone wonder what that amazing smell is, but every bite is irresistibly flavorful. Sauteed mushrooms and onions, Swiss cheese, and lean beef patties on brioche buns. It’s a burger dream come true!

I also love smoking and two of our favorites are smoked brisket and smoked prime rib. They make for a fun and delicious get-together for family and friends.

This was sooo good! I will keep this one! Thank you.

Mushroom Swiss Burgers Ingredients

  • Ground Beef: Use an 80/20 or 90/10 mix.
  • Burger Seasoning: For the seasoning, I'm using my famous burger seasoning recipe. It's a combination of salt, black pepper, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder.
  • Swiss Cheese: Swiss pairs the best with mushrooms on a burger, but you can use other cheeses, too! Try Gruyere or even a cheese spread like Boursin.
  • Brioche Buns: Or buns of your choice. I prefer brioche because of how buttery they are!
  • Butter: Use unsalted butter or, if salted butter is all you have, make sure to add less salt in the seasoning.
  • White Mushrooms: Plain white mushrooms are all you need for the sauteed mushroom topping. You can buy them pre-sliced or whole and slice them yourself. Just make sure to gently wash them with a damp paper towel before slicing if you buy them whole.
  • Sweet Yellow Onion: Or white onion. I don't recommend using red onion, but you could. If you do, try my caramelized red onions.
  • Salt and Pepper: We use a bit of additional salt and pepper for these burgers. Adjust according to your preferences.
  • Worcestershire Sauce: The flavor Worcestershire sauce brings to the table with these burgers is unmatched! The tangy, savory flavor pairs very well with the taste of these burgers.

Absolutely delicious swiss mushroom burger. I made this recipe but substituted little pub burgers on buttered slider buns by Pepperidge farms. Was so delicious.

I always put my mushrooms under the cheese. It keeps them in place.

I generally agree with the placement suggestion. Another idea is to make a simple Swiss cheese sauce and allow the guests to take as much of the mushrooms/onions and Swiss cheese sauce as they want before eating. This allows everyone to layer as they desire and have fun! No ketchup eaters with this recipe, though, right? I had a brother-in-law who put ketchup on EVERYTHING! Even ice cream, I swear. Thanks for posting!
