Social Security to Expand SSI Rental Subsidy Policy - Agency Continues to Remove Barriers to Accessing SSI Payments | SSA (2)Last Thursday, the Social Security Administration published a final rule, “Expansion of the Rental Subsidy Policy for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Applicants and Recipients.” This rule provides the second of several updates to the agency’s SSI regulations that will help people receiving and applying for SSI.

“Our mission is to continue to help people access crucial benefits, including SSI,” said Martin O’Malley, Commissioner of Social Security.

“Simplifying and expanding our rental subsidy policy nationwide is another common-sense solution that will improve program equality and will reduce agency time spent calculating and administering rental subsidy.”

SSI provides monthly payments to adults and children with a disability or blindness, and to adults aged 65 and older, who have limited income and resources. SSI benefits can help pay for basic needs like rent, food, clothing, and medicine. People applying for and receiving SSI must meet eligibility requirements, including income and resource limits.

Under the final rule, beginning September 30, 2024, the agency will expand its SSI rental subsidy policy, which due to judicial decisions is currently only in place for SSI applicants and recipients residing in 7 states (Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, New York, Texas, Vermont, and Wisconsin). In those states, rental assistance, such as renting at a discounted rate, was less likely to affect a person’s SSI eligibility or payment amount. This new rule extends the same advantageous policy to all SSI applicants and recipients nationwide. This may increase the payment amount some people are eligible to receive and will allow more people to qualify for critical SSI payments.

The agency continuously examines programmatic policies and makes regulatory and sub-regulatory changes as appropriate. Look for more announcements in the coming weeks.

I SUPPORT A VERY GOOD, WELL-FUNDED SOCIAL SECURITY PROGRAM AND A VERY GOOD, WELL-FUNDER MEDICARE FOR THE ELDERLY PROGRAM! WE MUST HAVE A VERY GOOD HEALTH CARE SYSTEM TO SERVE THE NEEDS OF AMERICAN CITIZENS, BUT THE INSURANCE PROGRAMS SHOULD ONLY BE PRIVATE INSURANCE WITHOUT ANY US GOVERNMENT FUNDS, AND WITHOUT USE OF ANY OF OUR TAX MONEY WE IN THE 50% WHO ARE ACTUALLY PAYING FEDERAL INCOME TAXES ARE PAYING TO SUPPORT WELFARE REICIPIENTS, SSI, ILLEGAL ALIENS, IMMIGRANTS, MARXIST-COMMUNISTS, GOVERNMENT WORKERS AND MARXIST POLITICIANS!

WE DO NOT SUPPORT ANY ACTIONS THAT WOULD WEAKEN SOCIAL SECURITY OR MEDICARE FOR THE ELDERLY!

BUT US CITIZENS WHO PAY FEDERAL INCOME TAXES ARE FULLY MAXED-OUT ON HOW MUCH TAXES WE SHOULD BE PAYING! WHEN ONLY 50% OF US CITIZENS ARE ACTUALLY PAYING TAXES, IT IS PAST TIME TO CHANGE OUR TAX SYSTEMS, WELFARE SYSTEMS, SSI SYSTEM, MEDICAID SYSTEM, GOVERNMENT FREEBIES TO STUDENTS, WELFARE RECIPIENTS, SCHOOLS, ILLEGAL ALIENS, FOREIGNERS AND EIMINATE ALL FORMS OF EARMARKS, GRANTS AND FINANCIAL FAVORS BY POLITICIANS!

EVERY PERSON IN THE USA CAN WORK, IN SOME WAY, TO PROVIDE FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILIES, WHILE PAYING SOME FEDERAL INCOME TAXES TO LIVE IN AMERICA! GROWING OUR US ECONOMY AND OUR MIDDLE CLASS SOCIETY WILL MAKE EVERYONE ECONOMICALLY STRONG ENOUGH TO LIVE AND SUPPORT THE USA! WE NEED ALL OUR PRODUCTION, COMPANIES, NON-UNION JOBS, BUSINESSES, INVESTMENTS, ETC. BACK IN AMERICA SO THE LOWER CLASS CAN GET OUT OF LOW PAYING SERVICE JOBS AND DO SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE FOR THE US ECONOMIC SYSTEMS! AND, BUILDING THE MIDDLE CLASS INTO A PROSPEROUS GROUP WOULD SUPPORT SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE FOR THE ELDERLY, THE MILITARY FORCES, HEALTH CARE SYSTEMS, THUS ELIMINATING ALL FORMS OF WELFARE PROGRAMS, GOVERNMENT FREEBIES, SSI, FREE MEDICAID, FREE STUDENT LOANS, FREE FOOD, FREE HOUSING, FREE SCHOOL MEALS, FREE SCHOOLING, FREE INSURANCE, ETC. WE HAVE GIVEN OUR MONEY AND THE SOURCES OF OUR INCOMES AWAY TO WELFARE RECIPIENTS, ILLEGAL ALIENS, MARXIST GOVERNMENT WORKERS AND TO FOREIGN AID! WE MUST HAVE SMART PEOPLE TO SUPPORT OUR GOOD FREEDOMS AND US ECONOMY! WITHOUT HONEST HARD-WORKING, INVESTING SMART PEOPLE THERE WILL BE NO JOBS OR PROFITABLE INVESTMENTS! WE NEED TO ELIMINATE MOST GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE COMPLACENCY AND LACK OF INDIVDUAL PRODUCTIVITY STARTS AND MULTIPLIES INTO THE GROSS WELFARE STATE SYSTEMS WE HAVE NOW GROWN INTO!

WE MUST ELIMINATE ALL FORMS OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, DEPORT ALL ILLEGAL ALIENS, UNDOCUMENTED PERSONS IN USA AND ILLEGAL FOREIGNERS OUT OF OUR UNITED STATES NOW! THEY ARE HERE ONLY TO STEAL OUR WELFARE BENEFITS, JOBS, MONEY, INCOMES, BUSINESSES AND GOVERNMENT JOBS! THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO BE IN THE USA AND THEY ARE TAKING OVER ALL INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS THAT BELONG ONLY TO REAL AMERICAN CITIZENS!

    Well Mr. O’Malley
Looks like the majority are not in favor of your proposal, main reason is that we all know that it will be used for housing fir all these illegal immigrants that the Biden administration is allowing into this country at American taxpayers expense. These types of benefits should go to American citizens only
